Autonomous Thinking Organic Machine, or ATOM, is a framework for the application of multi-modal, interactive, multitasking machine learning applied to personalize human-robot interactions for a broad diversity of individuals and their unique needs.

Developed by SoftBank Robotics Group, the NAO humanoid robot provides a suitable platform for our work in HRI.

Planned applications for ATOM include critical health care challenges that require socially mediated, personalized, long-term support, such as:

• special needs education
• elderly care, and companionship
• physical and mental rehabilitation
